1. Prohibited: BGL will not quote, book, or arrange
Full stop. No exceptions.
- Any goods that are illegal to export, import, possess or transport, or that would be shipped without a required license, permit or registration.
- Any shipment, payment or party involving Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, or the Crimea, Donetsk or Luhansk regions of Ukraine, or any person or company on a U.S. sanctions or restricted-party list.
- Firearms, ammunition, firearm parts and accessories (including suppressors and frames or receivers), and other weapons.
- Defense articles controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and goods intended for a prohibited military, nuclear, chemical, biological or missile end use.
- Explosives, fireworks, and other Class 1 explosive materials, and radioactive (Class 7) materials.
- Narcotics, controlled substances and drug paraphernalia, including marijuana and cannabis products, and hemp or CBD products.
- Counterfeit, pirated or trademark-infringing goods.
- Currency, cash, bearer instruments (such as money orders or traveler's checks), bulk prepaid or gift cards, and precious-metal bullion or coins.
- Stolen goods or goods of unknown ownership.
- Endangered species and wildlife products, including ivory, and any item regulated under CITES that is not covered by the required permits.
- Live animals, human remains, and human organs, tissue or bodily fluids.
- Hazardous waste, and electronic waste shipped for disposal.
- Pornographic or obscene materials.
- Any hazardous material that is not fully and correctly declared in writing before booking.
2. Restricted: only with BGL's written approval before booking
These goods can move legally but carry extra rules. BGL will quote them only after the customer supplies complete documentation, the carrier accepts the cargo, and BGL's Compliance Officer approves the booking in writing.
Check with us first.
- Declared dangerous goods (hazard classes 2-6, 8 and 9), including lithium batteries and devices containing them, which must be packed, marked and documented to DOT, IATA or IMDG rules.
- Goods with an export classification other than EAR99, or any goods that may require an export license.
- Shipments to or from high-risk countries listed in BGL's compliance policy, including Russia, Belarus, Venezuela and Myanmar.
- Alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, and electronic cigarettes and vaping products.
- Pharmaceuticals, medical devices, cosmetics and dietary supplements regulated by the FDA.
- Food, perishables, plants, seeds, soil and agricultural products regulated by the FDA or USDA.
- Chemicals, and goods regulated under the Toxic Substances Control Act.
- Motor vehicles, engines and vehicle parts that require title or EPA/DOT documentation.
- High-value goods such as jewelry, watches, precious stones, fine art and antiques.
- Used personal effects and household goods (BGL serves business customers).
3. How BGL enforces this list
- Every booking requires a specific commodity description, value, HTS or Schedule B number, and export classification. Vague descriptions are refused.
- Every party to a shipment is screened against U.S. government restricted-party lists before a booking is accepted, and results are logged.
- BGL refuses or cancels any booking that falls under Section 1, or under Section 2 without approval. Customers that misdeclare cargo are suspended or terminated and are responsible for all resulting fines, charges and costs under BGL's Terms and Conditions of Service.
